Mercury embolism in the lungs.

 Mercury embolism in the lungs.

In the picture you can see an X-ray of a twenty-year-old girl who had attempted suicide by injecting mercury into her vein. She was taken to the emergency room with shortness of breath, a dry cough, and bloody sputum. A chest x-ray showed that the mercury had been carried into the pulmonary vasculature. And there was a risk that the mercury with the bloodstream would spread to all the organs and lead to severe intoxication of the whole body.
